Murder Charge in Wife's Fatal Heroin Overdose

Detectives have charged a Spotsylvania man in the fatal overdose death of his wife.

William Moore, 39, is charged with felony murder, according to the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office.

Ashley Moore, 28, was found dead on Feb. 26 in the couple's home in the 11300 block of Pine Needle Court.

Detectives found numerous drug paraphernalia and investigators say William Moore admitted that he and his wife were using heroin on a daily basis and on this night he provided his wife a lethal dose.

William Moore initially faced charges of child endangerment, because the couple’s two small children were in the home. He also faces charges of possession of heroin and possession with the intent to distribute.

The two children were turned over to family members.

“This is a National epidemic which is affecting all of our communities, and we are seeing people in all stages of life, across socio-economic lines suffering, and in some tragic cases, dying from this addiction," said Sheriff Roger Harris.
