Murder, Strangulation Indictments in Death of UMW Student
Steven Vander Briel, 31, facing murder, abduction and strangulation charges in death of housemate Grace Rebecca Mann, 20.
A Fredericksburg grand jury handed down indictments Monday in the April death of University of Mary Washington student Grace Rebecca Mann, 20.
Steven Vander Briel, 31, has been indicted on charges of murder, abduction and strangulation. Briel will be back in court for an arraignment Aug. 18.
Two roommates testified last month that they came home to find the house in disarray and Briel claimed he had been defending himself from Mann.

Vander Briel was arrested hours later after fleeing the scene.
Mann was a junior at UMW.
