Naked Alexandria Man Arrested After Public Outburst In Spotsylvania: Sheriff

A 48-year-old Alexandria man was arrested Saturday after reports of indecent exposure on Patriot Highway in Spotsylvania County.

SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — Spotsylvania County deputies arrested an Alexandria man Saturday after responding to a report of indecent exposure in the 10300 block of Patriot Highway, according to authorities.

Deputies arrived and found 48-year-old Jovan Saunders of Alexandria, “completely unclothed outside of a business and yelling," according to the sheriff's office. Deputies also observed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcohol.

Saunders was detained without incident.

Witnesses reported seeing Saunders naked in public, including inside a nearby convenience store, according to the incident report. Based on witness statements and deputies’ observations, he was taken into custody.

The sheriff’s office said Saunders was taken to the Stafford Magistrate’s Office, where warrants were obtained for two counts of indecent exposure and one count of public intoxication.

Saunders was arraigned Monday in the Spotsylvania General District Court and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 10 a.m. on July 9, according to court documents.
