Northern Virginia Weather: Brisk Work Week Ahead?

STERLING, VA — Relatively hot temperatures over the weekend, especially Sunday once the sun broke out, are expected to cede to a more seasonable outlook for Northern Virginia's work week, according to the National Weather Service's satellite headquarters in Sterling. Look for lots of sunshine, too, following Sunday night's spate of showers.

And the temperatures? Comfortable during day and crisp at night. Highs begin in the 60s but will inch up as the week progresses. Expect nightly lows in the 50s. Tonight: Showers likely, mainly after 5am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 57. South wind 11 to 13 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Monday: Showers likely, mainly before 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 63. Northwest wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 43. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 62. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night: Clear, with a low around 44. Light southwest wind.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 69.

Wednesday Night: Clear, with a low around 49.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 72.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 74.
