Northern Virginia Weather: Cool Temps Arriving Soon

STERLING, VA—Highs in the 80s will be around for much of the work week in the Northern Virginia area, and clouds along with isolated showers are expected to be a daily staple. That's the word from the National Weather Service's local headquarters in Sterling as well as other area forecasting outlets.

But wait. There's also this bit of welcome news for a lot of folks, according to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang: "There is growing confidence that a cold front will sweep through the eastern United States late this week, and in its wake, temperatures should fall back to cooler-than-normal readings."

Monday Night: Isolated thunderstorms before 8pm, then isolated showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southeast wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday: Isolated showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday Night: Isolated thunderstorms before 8pm, then isolated showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
