Northern Virginia Weather: Decent Weekend Ahead

STERLING, VA—It's good news for the most part regarding Norther Virginia's weekend weather forecast, according to various area outlets, including the National Weather Office satellite offices in Sterling. Any lingering rain activity is expected to move out of the area Friday night, making a path for a decent weekend with a decent amount of sunshine.

Saturday should be the warmest day with highs in the mid-70s and relatively light winds. And that night? There's this from WRC (Channel 4): "A front driving through the area will bring spotty showers Saturday evening (and) a bit of instability could mean an isolated thunderstorm (but) severe weather is not expected."

Sun returns Sunday but highs will struggle to reach 60 and gusts could reach 25 mph. Here's the detailed forecast from the National Weather Service:

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 51. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.

Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 73. Southwest wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday Night: A chance of showers before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 43. Northwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 41. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 66.

Monday Night: Clear, with a low around 49.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 76.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 83.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62.
