The work-week weather forecast for the Northern Virginia area looks a lot like the one that came before it.

STERLING, VA—Northern Virginia's weather forecast for the work week offers little respite from what we experienced through much of the weekend. That's the consensus from the National Weather Service and other area forecasters.

The bottom-line skinny, as the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang dutifully points out, is that we transform "into a tropical rain forest for the next several days with drenching downpour after drenching downpour."

Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 73. Southeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
