Northern Virginia Weather: Hazardous Outlook Issued

STERLING, VA—Northern Virginia's weather outlook for the work week begins with a frost advisory from midnight Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday, and a freeze warning in that same time frame for the counties of Prince William, Stafford and Spotsylvania. That's to go with wind gusts as high as 25 mph, according to the National Weather Service's satellite HQ in Sterling and other area forecasters.

But after that, as noted by the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang, "Mostly sunny skies stick around through midweek, other than some scattered clouds." Highs during the week are expected to be in the mid to upper 50s, with lows in the upper 30s amid light winds. Here's the detailed forecast from the National Weather Service:

Sunday Night: Areas of frost after 2am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 37. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Monday: Areas of frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 57. Light west wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 44. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 64. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 45. Northwest wind around 8 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 55.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 37.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 51.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 37.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Saturday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 56. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
