Northern Virginia Weather: Hazardous Outlook Issued

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the Northern Virginia area by the National Weather Service ahead of the coming nor'easter.

STERLING, VA—Just ahead of the nor'easter that's going to soak the Northern Virginia area during the early part of the weekend, the National Weather Service has issued a gale warning from late Friday night to early Saturday morning. Gusts could surpass 20 mph, along with the drenching rain.

From the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang: "Our weather turns windy tonight and perhaps much of tomorrow, when we could see some late-day clearing. Luckily for Sunday’s Marine Corps Marathon, shower chances are low."

Friday: Rain, mainly after 3pm. High near 51. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday Night: Rain. Low around 48. Northeast wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Saturday: Rain, mainly before 1pm. High near 55. Northeast wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: A slight chance of rain before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. Northwest wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday: A slight chance of showers after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. West wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
