Northern Virginia Weather: Herky Jerky Work Week

Although the work week in Northern Virginia is expected to get off to something of a system shocker, changes are expected to soon follow.

STERLING, VA — Although the work week in Northern Virginia is expected to get off to something of a system shocker, at least compared to the past several days, better times will soon follow. According to the National Weather Service's satellite outpost in Sterling, though, be prepared to slog it out the first couple of days.

Clouds are expected to being moving in Sunday night and will stick around through Tuesday night, bringing with them a fair amount of rain — especially Monday night and Tuesday. Tonight (Sunday night): Patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 58. Southeast wind 6 to 8 mph.

Monday: Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. Southeast wind 5 to 13 mph.

Monday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2am. Low around 64. South wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
