Northern Virginia Weather: Nice 'Work' Week

STERLING, VA — For those who didn't schedule a vacation around the Fourth Of July holiday, there's the usual work week to consider amid the smokey haze from fireworks and what not. And your weather forecast for said work week, according to the National Weather Service's satellite arm in Sterling, looks pretty good — especially if you like it hot (close your eyes and remember bitterly cold February mornings).

Basically, we're looking at a week that's expected to have a lot of sunshine to go along with a daily threat of a thunderstorm here and there. Monday looks to be mostly sunny, leading into an Independence Day with a slight chance of showers after noon but otherwise sunny with highs in the low 90s (close your eyes and remember wintry mixes).

Independence Day: Scattered showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday Night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
