Northern Virginia Weather: Rain, Wind Back In Play

STERLING, VA—Rain again enters the picture as far as Northern Virginia's latest weather forecast goes, but expectations are that it will clear out by Thursday. Watch out for wind gusts, though, with winds possible up to 40 mph.

Highs are expected to flirt with 60 as the sun tries to make an appearance. Even so, as pointed out by the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang: "While certainly pleasant, we’re still a good bit below normal, and more chilly air is on the way."

Here's the latest forecast from the National Weather Service's satellite headquarters in Sterling:

Wednesday Night: A slight chance of showers after midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 49. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 58. Breezy, with a northwest wind 16 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 37. Breezy, with a northwest wind 13 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 54. Northwest wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 37. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 59.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 40.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 43.
