Northern Virginia Weather: Shelve The Sunscreen
Northern Virginia's latest weather forecast finds an abrupt change from what we've been experiencing the past several days.
STERLING, VA—Look on the bright side, if you will, regarding Northern Virginia's latest weather forecast. According to the National Weather Service and other area forecasting outlets, our approaching storm system is expected to bring us a drenching but not a lot of headaches — unlike relatively nearby areas, where flood watches are in effect for Tuesday.
But here, as the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang points out, "the rain should be gentler and generally more polite — flooding is not expected." Here's the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:
Tonight: A chance of rain, mainly after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. East wind 5 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday: Rain, mainly after 8am. High near 59. East wind 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tuesday Night: Rain. Low around 54. East wind 6 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Rain before 8am, then showers likely after 8am. High near 67. Light north wind becoming northwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
