Northern Virginia Weather: Weekend Not A Washout

STERLING, VA—If you like your weather chilly, damp and more or less raw, then this weekend will suit you just fine. Although the nor'easter will move out by early Saturday, clouds will stick around Northern Virginia for much of the weekend. That's the word from the National Weather Service and other area forecasters.

Highs both Saturday and Sunday mostly will hover in the 50s, with lows in the 40s. Come Sunday night, according to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gange, a winterlike clipper may even slide through with showers. Here's the detailed forecast from the National Weather Service's bureau in Sterling:

Saturday: Rain likely, mainly before 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 55. Northwest wind 11 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. West wind 3 to 8 mph.

Sunday: A slight chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. West wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: A chance of showers, mainly between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 7 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 58.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 41.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 60.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 48.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 68.
