Northern Virginia Weather: Work Week Extremes

STERLING, VA — Summer-like conditions are expected to dominate the better part of the Northern Virginia work week — until they suddenly don't. Friday is expected to be the head-turner, according to the area arm of the National Weather Service in Sterling, with daytime highs dropping from the mid 80s to the low 70s.

The week likely will begin under sunny skies with highs near 90 and lows near 70. The work week likely will conclude with sunny skies and highs near 70 and lows around 50. Monday: Sunny, with a high near 87. East wind 3 to 7 mph.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. East wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Tuesday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Northeast wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 68.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 57.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72.
