Northern Virginia Weekend Weather: Changes Ahead
Northern Virginia's weekend weather forecast represents a considerable change from what we experienced much of Friday.
STERLING, VA — Following a summer-like day with highs around 80 and abundant sunshine, Northern Virginia's weekend weather forecast looks decidedly different — and then some. That's the word from the National Weather Service's outpost in Sterling.
After a chilly Friday night with 20 mph wind gusts, Saturday is expected to be mostly cloudy with highs in the mid 50s. Sunday also should offer plenty of clouds (at least until late in the day) with a highs in the upper 60s. There's a chance of rain both days. Here's the detailed forecast from the National Weather Service:
Friday Night: A chance of showers before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. North wind 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: A chance of rain, mainly after 2pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 55. Northeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Saturday Night: Rain likely, mainly before 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 52. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday: A chance of rain before 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Light south wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Sunday Night: A slight chance of showers after 2am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Monday: Showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Monday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Tuesday: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
