Friday was a tease. Will it last? Here's the Northern Virginia weekend weather forecast.

STERLING, VA — Most of Friday offered a nice appetizer for what's to come this weekend in Northern Virginia, according to the National Weather Service outpost in Sterling. Namely, expect more of the same — only better. So long, cold. See you in a week or so.
As Ian Livingston of the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang put it, "(G)iven expectations of warmer-than-normal weather continuing through the weekend and into next week, ice is on borrowed time around these parts." Both Saturday and Sunday are expected to offer highs in the mid-50s under mostly sunny skies. Here's the detailed forecast from the National Weather Service:
Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 30. Southwest wind around 6 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 54. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 35. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Sunday Night: A slight chance of rain after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 58.
Monday Night: Showers. Low around 46. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Tuesday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 54. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
