Northern Virginia Weekend Weather: Looming Rain But When?

Northern Virginia's weekend weather forecast is calling for rain but the question is when, according to the National Weather Service.

STERLING, VA — Enjoy Friday night. And at least some of the day Saturday. That's the best advice as any regarding the weekend weather forecast from the National Weather Service's area outpost in Sterling. Come Saturday night and Sunday, expect, in a word, rain.

Clouds are expected to being moving in throughout the afternoon Saturday, followed by a 90 percent chance of rain that evening with gusts as high as 24 mph. For Sunday? Much of the same. The rain should stick around until Monday morning finally gives way to sunshine.

Halloween night? A few clouds and lows near 60. Here's the detailed forecast from the National Weather Service:

Tonight (Friday): Mostly clear, with a low around 50. South wind around 10 mph.

Saturday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 70. South wind 8 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Saturday Night: Rain, mainly after 9pm. Low around 54. South wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Sunday: Rain. High near 58. West wind 10 to 17 mph becoming northwest in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Sunday Night: Showers, mainly before 3am. Low around 41. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Monday: A chance of showers before 9am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 57. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 41.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 41.
