Northern Virginia Weekend Weather: No Snow Shovels
Northern Virginia's weekend weather forecast call for precipitation on Saturday but a quick bounce-back will help salvage matters.
STERLING, VA—Northern Virginia's weekend weather forecast isn't as foreboding as it was Thursday. Rather, just a damp Saturday but little or no snow. As WRC (Channel 4) points out: "The rain/snow will only be a nuisance event. Little to no accumulation in our region with the best chance on grassy surfaces in areas south of DC."
The National Weather Service's satellite headquarters in Sterling predict less than half an inch of the white stuff for Saturday but watch out for the rain before things begin to clear out that night. That's likely to make for a Sunday filled with sunshine with temperatures nonetheless struggling to break 50. Here's the detailed forecast from the National Weather Service:
Friday night: Rain likely before 5am, then rain and snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 38. Southwest wind 9 to 15 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Saturday: Rain and snow likely before 2pm, then a chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 42. North wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Saturday Night: A chance of snow, mainly between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 29. North wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 47. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
