Northern Virginia Weekend Weather: Snow, But How Much?
Northern Virginia's weekend weather forecast has snow in the offing, but the big question is exactly how much will fall — and when?
STERLING, VA — You may have heard snow's headed to Northern Virginia just in time for the weekend. There's a winter weather advisory for the area from midnight-4 p.m. Saturday, and the National Weather Service's local arm in Sterling expects at least three inches Friday night and Saturday, with some reports calling for as much as six inches in some areas.
And from the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang: "Small changes in the position of the storm off the coast Saturday could result in significant changes to amounts. If the storm is closer to the coast, the immediate D.C. area could see totals closer to four inches, but if it drifts more out to sea, less accumulation would occur."
But once the expected snow moves out late Saturday, be prepared for the big chill. Lows Saturday night should be in the upper 20s. Sunday offers plenty of sunshine but highs only in the mid 30s to go with wind gusts of up to 25 mph.

Tonight: Snow, mainly after 1 a.m. Low around 33. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday: Snow. High near 35. Northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Saturday Night: Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 28. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 38. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph.
