Northern Virginia Weekend Weather: Summer's Last Official Gasp
It's fitting that the final official weekend of summer easily could pass for a summer weekend from a month or so ago in Northern Virginia.

STERLING, VA — It's fitting that the final official weekend of summer easily could pass for a summer weekend from a month or so ago. With Sept. 22 looming as the first day of autumn, this last hurrah will be ideal for outdoor activities and whatever else was so satisfying the past three months or so. Namely, look for lots of sunshine with scant chances of rain. That's the word from the area branch of the National Weather Service in Sterling.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday all are expected to feature highs in the low 80s with evening lows in the mid to upper 60s. Sunday offers the only real chance of showers but not until the afternoon, and even then there's but a 30 percent chance. (For more local news, click here to sign up for real-time news alerts.
