NY Man Charged In 19 Frauds From FL to VA; 1 Suspect Still At Large

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Fredericksburg City Police arrested one of two men suspected to have committed 19 separate frauds between Florida and Virginia.

Officers responded on July 19 to the Lowe's at 1361 Carl D. Silver Parkway for the report of two men using stolen credit card accounts to purchase multiple high-dollar Dyson vacuum cleaners.

Arriving on the scene, Officer Bach saw one of the suspects fleeing in a U-Haul van, while the other ran off on foot. Officers Bach and Baugher chased the man on foot as he ran through Central Park, according to police. Officer Parker, who was nearby, spotted the suspect as he ran across Carl D. Silver Parkway.

Eventually, the officers caught up with the suspect, who was later identified 32-year-old Bashir Salvador of Far Rockaway, New York. Police arrested Salvador and charged him with obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, credit card theft, credit card fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, and larceny with the intent to distribute, according to police.

Investigators have not determined the identity of the second suspect, who succeeded in evading police. The U-Haul was found abandoned later in Spotsylvania, according to police.
