Pedestrian Struck by Suspected Drunk Driver in Stafford

Victim remains hospitalized with serious injuries, according to Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

STAFFORD, VA — A suspected drunk driver struck and seriously injured a female pedestrian Saturday night on Tarleton Way, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

The victim suffered injuries to her legs and head, and remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Aaron D. Atteberry, 39, of Tarleton is charged with driving while intoxicated, maiming as a result of driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, assault and battery of a police officer and other charges.

Atteberry apparently remained on the scene but refused to cooperate with DUI testing. Police had to obtain a warrant to get a blood sample.

The victim was found lying on the ground behind his Dodge Ram truck.

Tarleton is also charged with concealed weapon carry while intoxicated, obstructing justice and aggravated malicious wounding.
