Pizza Recall Hits 10 States, Including VA
The recall was recently upgraded to Class II, meaning a product may cause "temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences."
Pizza products that were distributed in Virginia and nine other states have been recalled due to the potential presence of metal fragments in the product’s roasted tomatoes, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.
According to a recall notice on the FDA website, the recall of HelloFresh’s basil pesto and mozzarella pizza was upgraded to a Class II classification on Monday.
A Class II recall means use of or exposure to a violative product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote,” the FDA said.

In a statement sent to Patch, HelloFresh said the safety of their customers “is our highest priority.”
“This supplier-initiated recall occurred in January and only impacted a small number of customers,” the company said. “As soon as our supplier notified us of the potential concern, we acted quickly to inform any customers who may have received the impacted product and provided clear guidance.”
On Reddit, a customer posted a notice they received about the recall, which directed them to discard any basil pesto and mozzarella pizza received on Oct. 8, 2025, through Jan. 23, 2026.
The notice said one of their ingredient suppliers informed them that “certain lots of slow roasted tomatoes, an ingredient in the pizza, has the potential presence of metal fragments.”
In an email sent to Patch, Bakkavor declined to comment on the recall.
