Police Arrest Man Accused Of Threatening To Bomb, Burn Stafford Home

A man was arrested in Stafford County on Wednesday after police said he tried to run over someone and threatened to bomb and burn a home.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A Fredericksburg man is in custody after police said he threatened to bomb and burn a home in Stafford County on Wednesday. The man also attempted to run someone over, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

No injuries were reported in the incident, police said in a news release.

Authorities identified the man as 35-year-old Stephen Brown. He is charged with entering a property to damage, threats to bomb, two counts of driving while suspended and three counts of assault.

Brown is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Police were called to a home on McCarty Road in Stafford County around 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Deputies said Brown was tearing up the yard of the home and had an outstanding warrant and two emergency protective orders.

A victim told police that Brown broke into their home and searched their bedroom. He then left the home, though a second victim said he left a bomb in the bedroom. Brown also said "I'll burn this house to the ground," according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

Before Brown drove out of the area, he tried to hit both victims with his vehicle, according to the police report. He was taken into custody after a traffic stop on White Oak Road.
