Police: Car Thief Poses for Camera Before Driving Off

Do you know this man? He's suspected in vehicle theft, according to Fredericksburg City Police

Investigators are hoping that security camera footage can help locate the suspect in a car theft over the weekend.

At 9:20 p.m. Saturday, a woman entered the 7-Eleven at 1240 Jefferson Davis Highway. She left her car unlocked and left the keys in the car. When she exited the store, her car was gone.

The vehicle is described as a white 1996 Volkswagen Jetta, VA registration VDA1915, has a lowered suspension, ski rack on the roof, a loud exhaust and red mud flaps.

At one point, the suspect is seen looking straight at the camera. Police believe he may have been trying to determine whether he’d be seen by the cameras as he entered the car.

The suspect was wearing sunglasses on his head, a white football jersey with the number five on the front, and blue jeans and was carrying a backpack.
