Police Chase In Stafford Leads To Charges For Woodbridge Woman: Police
Police in Stafford County said a woman from Woodbridge faces several charges after a car chase on I-95 on Tuesday.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A police chase on I-95 in Stafford County on Tuesday morning led to several charges for a Woodbridge woman, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said. The woman told police that she didn't know she was supposed to stop for law enforcement, according to authorities.
No injuries or property damage was reported as a result of the crash.
Police identified the woman as 49-year-old Georgiette Kwachie. She is charged with eluding, reckless driving, holding a phone while operating a vehicle, following too closely and a traffic lane violation.

Kwachie is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Her first court date is set for Wednesday.
Around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, a deputy said he saw a Nissan Rogue speeding on southbound I-95 and weaving in and out of traffic. The deputy tried to pull over the Nissan, but the driver of the SUV continued to weave through traffic at 80 miles per hour, according to the police report.

The Nissan sped past another deputy on I-95 who joined the chase. As the Nissan approached mile marker 140, the driver moved to the right shoulder of the highway, according to the sheriff's office. Another driver had already moved to the right shoulder, blocking the SUV's path.
The driver, who police identified as Kwachie, was taken into custody. Deputies claimed that Kwachie said she was speeding because the traffic was moving too slowly. She also said she was unaware that she was required to pull over for police, according to the sheriff's office report.
Kwachie is set to appear in Prince William County Circuit Court in October for a separate eluding charge from an incident in 2021, according to court records.
