Police: Indictment in Shooting of Gas Station Clerk
The March 2014 armed robbery at a Fas Mart store left the clerk seriously injured.
A suspect has been indicted in the shooting of a gas station clerk during an armed robbery in Spotsylvania County in March 2014. The Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest on Friday morning.
Derek Ross Sprouse, 33, of Spotsylvania, is been indicted on charges of Robbery of a Business with use of a gun, Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in Commission of Felony Robbery, Use of a Firearm in Commission of Felony Malicious Wounding, Use of Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Show cause probation violation to revoke a suspended 2 year and 6 month sentence for Felony Child Abuse.
He is accused of shooting the gas station clerk at the Fas Mart on Brock Road on March 8, 2014. She was shot in the back of the head when she turned away.

The suspect then reportedly grabbed ephedrine that was locked in a cabinet and ran out the front door. He shot the victim a second time in the face before he left, according to Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.
Sprouse is currently incarcerated in North Carolina awaiting trial for a February 24, 2015 armed robbery with a dangerous weapon in Kings Mountain, N.C.., of a convenience store.
