Police Request Help On 25th Anniversary Of Single Mom's Murder
Twenty-five years later, the Fredericksburg Police Department is asking the public for help in solving the murder of Geraldine Ross.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Geraldine Ross was found murdered inside her home in Fredericksburg on Dec. 9, 1994 and now 25 years later, the Fredericksburg Police Department is asking the public with any information about Ross's death to come forward. Ross, 27, was a single mom with an eight-year-old son, Jonathan, who she dropped off at school earlier that morning 25 years ago.
When Ross failed to pick him up after school, Jonathan walked home to their apartment at the Forest Village Apartments in the 1600 block of Forrest Village Drive and found the door was locked. After waiting in the cold for several hours, a maintenance worker noticed Jonathan and asked why he was outside in the cold. After letting him in, Jonathan, who is 33-years-old today, discovered his mother lying on their bedroom floor unresponsive. Geraldine had been dead for some time, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.
Police investigators determined that Ross had been stabbed and strangled. There was no forced entry into the apartment, possibly indicating she may have known her attacker. The Fredericksburg Police Department, in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, are continuing to work on the case.
