Police: Road Rage Assault Over Tossed Cigarette Butt

Suspect pushed extinguished cigarette in victim's face, according to Fredericksburg City Police.

The latest road rage incident in Fredericksburg is more like litter rage.

Fredericksburg City Police responded at 3 p.m. Wednesday to the 1400 block of Jefferson Davis Highway.

The victim, 28, of Stafford, told police that she was stopped at the intersection with Cowan Boulevard when she threw a cigarette butt from her window.

Apparently upset with the action, the driver behind her, also a woman, allegedly got out of her car and picked up the cigarette butt. The unknown suspect then pushed the extinguished butt into the victim’s cheek before dropping it in the victim’s lap.

The victim told police that she threw the butt back out the window a second time. The suspect grabbed the butt and again threw it back into the car.

The other driver then followed the victim on Route 1 heading south while reportedly videotaping the victim with a phone. The offender eventually turned off onto Harrison Road in Spotsylvania County.

The offender was described as a woman in her 40s, approximately 5’6” and 130 pounds. She was driving a silver Toyota SUV.

The victim was not injured, according to police.
