Police: Robber Sticks Up Vacuum Store

He fled the scene on foot Wednesday afternoon on Route 1, say Fredericksburg police.

Fredericksburg police are investigating an armed robbery Wednesday afternoon at a vacuum store on Route 1.

Police responded at 2 p.m. to Hall’s Vacuum Center, 2095 Jefferson Davis Highway (Route 1), according to a police report. The business owner, a 71-year-old woman, told police that a man entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the register.

The victim complied and the suspect fled from the scene on foot, police said. He is described as a black male in his early 20s, about 5 feet 4 inches tall with a skinny build and wearing a black hat and black clothing. He also had a green bandanna covering his face.

A police dog followed a scent track from the suspect that ended a few blocks away on Route 1, in the vicinity of the Dunning Mills Inn at 2305 Jefferson Davis Highway, police said.
