Police: Women Punch, Kick Purse Snatcher
Two women caught up to the suspect twice before he fought them off, according to Fredericksburg City Police.

Area women fought with a purse snatcher Thursday, according to Fredericksburg City Police.
At 11:40 p.m., four women, ages 29-38, were walking back to their cars in the 800 block of Sophia Street. The women split up into two pairs as they got closer to their cars.
One of the women then noticed a man running in the direction of her and her friend, according to police. When he got close, the man grabbed the woman’s purse and pushed her to the ground, causing her head to hit the pavement. As the women began screaming, the man also grabbed the second woman’s purse and started to flee.

Hearing their friends, the two other women started chasing after the suspect. They caught up to him and began punching and kicking him as they tried to hold him down. He was able to get away, but the women caught up to him a second time.
This time, one of the women was punched in the face twice as they struggled with the suspect, according to police. The suspect dropped one of the purses and the women wrestled the second out of his hands before he fled.

The victims did not require medical transport. The suspect was not located.
Police describe him as a white male in his early to med 20s, 5’7” – 5’10” and approximately 180 pounds, and with straight hair that almost reached his shoulders. He was wearing a black tank top, khaki shorts, and a black ball cap turned backwards.
