FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A 22-year-old Woodbridge man was arrested early Tuesday evening after he went on what authorities described as a “rampage” with a baseball bat at a South Stafford home.
Stafford County Sheriff’s deputies responded around 5:35 p.m. to a breaking and entering report on Morton Road. The person who filed the report said that a man wearing a white shirt as a mask broke into her residence and began destroying things, according to the incident report. The suspect then left the area in a black Nissan sedan with tinted windows. The car also had no front license plate and was missing all of its hubcaps.
Deputy W.A. Bolinsky began to search for the suspect’s vehicle and found it at Valero, which is located at 620 Cambridge St. Bolinsky detained the driver, while Deputy I.E. Baldi began working to identify him, according to the report.

The victim who contacted police told Jett that she was in the shower when a man with a black and yellow baseball bat broke into her residence, the report says. After informing the victim that he was there to break things, the suspect then began doing just that. The victim hid in a closet and called for help. The suspect eventually left.
The victim told sheriff’s deputies the only thing stolen was cash from the safe, according to the report. The victim also said she and the suspect knew each other and that he had told her the rampage was due to a previous larceny allegation.
Deputies arrested the driver, whom they identified as Marvin Ssettumba, according to the report. As they took Ssettumba into custody, they found that he was in possession of the stolen cash. A black and yellow baseball bat was located inside the Nissan sedan.
SCSO charged Ssettumba with breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, felony destruction of property, and larceny, according to the report. He was then held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional.
