Rescue Me: Avon The Cat Is Easily Entertained By Ping Pong Balls

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Avon, a 2-year-old cat available for adoption through the Fredericksburg SPCA, is looking for a home to call his own.

Avon has been at the Fredericksburg SPCA since December. Volunteers said they aren't sure why he keeps getting passed over by prospective adopters. "We suspect that people don't want something in the house prettier than they are, but we can't prove that," the SPCA told Patch.

Avon is a pretty relaxed cat, according to the SPCA. While he enjoys playing with other cats, he's also content to relax in the sun.

"He gets along great with other cats and enjoys having another cat pal to play with," the SPCA said. "If you've got a bored cat now that you've returned to work, Avon can keep them company."

The SPCA also said that Avon is a big fan of ping pong balls. A 60-count bag of ping-pong balls is available for around $12.

"He doesn't beg for pets but will gladly accept them, especially if you are versed in the art of neck scritches," the SPCA said. "Avon would love to find a home with a spot in the sun to birdwatch."
