Rescue Me: Dottie The Dog Has A 'Near-Permanent Tongue Blep'

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Dottie, an 8-year-old dog at the Fredericksburg SPCA, has a near-constant tongue blep and the velvety ears of a champion. Her adoption fee is being waived through Saturday, the SPCA said.

Dottie has been in foster care recently, and her foster parent had glowing praise for her.

"Dottie loves butt skritches so much that if you stop she will continue to bounce her hips up and down against you or your chair to continue her enjoyment," Dottie's foster said. "She is very gentle with treats - she seems to know sit, lay down, off and leave it."

Dottie has no need for fancy toys. All she wants is your undivided love and attention.

"She has zero interest in toys or any other objects around the house, just wants attention," Dottie's foster told the SPCA. "Dottie makes the sweetest little snuffling grunts when you’re scratching her in the right spots. Her ears are the most magically soft and emotionally expressive velvety wedges."

Dottie does well in a crate. She may need to be bribed to get in, but her foster said she's quiet through the night and had no accidents.

Above anything else, Dottie is a cuddle machine.

"She will gladly lay on or next to you quietly all day long, except to pee, or if a cat walks in the room," according to Dottie's foster. "Miss Dottie seriously loves cuddles and being held like a baby, and will wriggle into position for belly rubs and to gaze up at you with eye hugs."

To add to her allure, Dottie is a photogenic pup.
