Rescue Me: Sparrow The Cat Is 'A Big Boy, Thicker Than A Snicker'
Sparrow is a 5-year-old cat available for adoption through the Fredericksburg SPCA who is in the midst of a weight loss journey.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Sparrow is a 5-year-old cat available for adoption through the Fredericksburg SPCA. Right now, he is sensitive about his weight, but he is working to become more active.
"Sparrow is a big boy, thicker than a Snicker. We know you want to squeeze the chonk, but Sparrow is sensitive about his weight and prefers to have all four feet on the ground," the Fredericksburg SPCA said. "He's been on a diet and exercise plan and has been losing weight with his foster."
The SPCA told Patch that Sparrow is a playful boy, which helps in his wellness journey. He's a lover boy at heart and would do best in a low-stress environment, because he is prone to stress-induced UTIs.

"Sparrow loves when low-key kids come in to sit down and read to him," the SPCA said. "He will come out of his cat tree and sit right beside them with soft, blinking eyes, body curled up, listening to them."
In his foster home, Sparrow has started to come out of his shell. He's started to enjoy all sorts of cat-appropriate activities like playing, exploring, and knocking stuff off of desks.

"His personality is just blossoming here," Sparrow's foster mom said. "His favorite spot is on my desk so he can watch the birds in the backyard out the window. His favorite sleeping spot is the tallest point of the kitty tower."
Sparrow is even good with other cats and dogs, according to his foster mom.
"Found out he likes dogs; he was playing feetsies under the gate with my puppy, Stitch," the foster parent said. "My black kitty and he love to play with the cat dancers on either side of the gate and I have him and my Maine coon eating on opposite sides of the gate at meal times."
More information about Sparrow and other adoptable cats and dogs is available on the SPCA's website. Sparrow's adoption fee has been waived to help him find a home.
"He’s been the best foster kitty and my best work buddy," Sparrow's foster mom said. "I hope someone gives him a chance!"
