FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Stripes, a sweet cat at the Fredericksburg SPCA, is available for adoption now.

Stripes came to the Fredericksburg SPCA with her kittens, who have all been adopted. Now, this one-year-old cat needs a forever home of her own.

"Stripes is what we like to call a soul cat, or, a heart cat," the Fredericksburg SPCA said. The bond she makes with her person, or people will be one of the most special connections."

Stripes had a rough start to her life, living in fear and famine, according to the SPCA. Though she is a bit timid in new situations, Stripes still has plenty of love to give. Her foster family believes Stripes will fit right in with her adopters, as long as she is given some time to adjust to her new home.

" Her foster mom said with love, patience, and yummy treats and food, Stripes has blossomed into a whole new cat within a couple of weeks," the SPCA said. "As she spent time watching and learning the people and environment around her, she decided that things were safe and that she could come out and explore."

After Stripes let her walls down, she became a chatty cat who loves affection and snacks.

"She'll be caught making biscuits in the air to get your attention and will even stand on both feet like a little bear to reach your outstretched hand," the SPCA said. "She will of course never say no to breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, and supper - so be sure to have some extra treats in your cart."

More information about Stripes and other adoptable cats and dogs is available on the Fredericksburg SPCA's website.

From Monday, Oct. 4 to Sunday, Oct. 10, the SPCA will participate in the Bissell Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters event. They will accept applications online and allow for families to schedule a virtual or in-person meet and greet with a pet.
