Rescue Me: Teddy Wants A Home For International Dog Day
International Dog Day is on Thursday, Aug. 26, and Teddy would love to find a home to call his own.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Thursday, Aug. 26 is International Dog Day. Teddy, a dog who is available for adoption at the Fredericksburg SPCA, is hoping to celebrate the occasion by finding a home for his own.
Teddy has a show-stopping smile. He is about 2 years old, according to the Fredericksburg SPCA.
"He loves to be with his people, soaking up all of the attention you can give," the Fredericksburg SPCA said. "When we say all of the attention, we mean it! He will follow you around to remind you that you are his favorite thing in the entire world, so only apply for Teddy if you're prepared to hand out love like confetti."

For International Dog Day, the Fredericksburg SPCA is hosting a fee-waived vaccine clinic on Saturday, Aug. 28. The clinic will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will also offer microchips and heartworm and tick medication.
The Fredericksburg SPCA also outlined a variety of ways that dog lovers in the area can celebrate International Dog Day. "Spoil your pup with extra walks, tasty treats, and super snuggles. Remember that dogs need mental enrichment and physical stimulation to keep their minds and body happy and healthy," the SPCA said. "Spoil your dog a bit extra today, and make a plan to add something to their routine like puzzle feeding, frozen Kong treats, snuffle mats, shred boxes, and more!"

Teddy would love to have a family to spoil him, and he could be a great fit in a variety of homes. "He already knows sit and hasn't had an accident since his arrival so we think he might be potty-trained," the SPCA said. "Teddy has enjoyed playing with other dogs, as long as they can let him be the all-star quarterback of the group!"
More information about Teddy and other adoptable dogs is available on the Fredericksburg SPCA's website. Interested families can set up meeting with Teddy by emailing matchmakers@fredspca.org.
