FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Umami is a one-year-old available for adoption through the Fredericksburg SPCA. She came to the shelter with a litter of kittens, who have now grown. Now, Umami is ready to find a best friend and a forever home of her own.

"Umami is just a baby who had some babies," the Fredericksburg SPCA told Patch. "he shelter was far too chaotic for her even after she became an empty nester, so Umami has been learning to open up in a foster home."

Umami was apprehensive when she first entered her foster home. However, she's quickly starting to come out of her shell.

"Her foster says she is a sweet and quiet girl who loves to observe her surroundings. Umami started watching her foster humans from the closet, coming out at night to play with baby toys," the SPCA said. "She began to accept pets and treats, purring up a storm of approval."

Umami has already eased into new routines at her foster home. With this experience, she'll do just as well when it's time to transition to her forever home.
