Rescue Me: Zeena Is A Dog Who 'Deserves All The Love In The World'

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Zeena is a senior dog available for adoption through the Fredericksburg SPCA. She originally came to the shelter in 2017, and now Zeena is looking for a place to spend her golden years.

"Zeena deserves all the love in the world," the Fredericksburg SPCA told Patch.

Zeena came to Fredericksburg from Missouri in 2017 and had nine puppies en route. Her puppies were weened and then adopted, and then Zeena found a home of her own.

"She found a home with a very loving family who doted on her and gave her everything they possibly could for the past 5 years," the SPCA said. "Through the years, Zeena developed skin issues and after several vet appointments, testing and treatment, her humans made the extraordinarily difficult decision to surrender her so she could get the help she needed."

In recent months, SPCA medical staff worked to help Zeena cope with her skin condition.

"Zeena will have to be on a hydrolyzed protein diet and medication for life to manage her inflammation," the SPCA said. "Being a senior and having life-long medication means Zeena needs some extra help finding a home."

To help her find a home that can take care of her, the SPCA is providing Zeena's medication and special food at cost. They have also waived her adoption fee.

"Zeena loves being around kids and snuggling up in a pile of blankets on the bed," the SPCA said. "Her little piglet noises and soulful eyes will have your heart skip a beat every time she happily greets you!"
