Sammy T's Restaurant Closing Sunday in Fredericksburg

Established in 1981, the downtown eatery recently was sold, and the new owners may look for new operators.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Sammy T's restaurant, a downtown fixture at 801 Caroline Street since 1981, has been sold after a year on the market and will close for good Sunday, a representative at Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite confirmed Thursday.

The restaurant specializes in vegetarian fare but also offers gourmet hamburgers, among other things.

Its building was constructed in 1805 and had a variety of carnations before being bought in 1980 by Mary Washington College geography professor Samuel T. Emory.
