Schools Threatened In Social Media Post: Stafford Police

Authorities are investigating a social media photo of a juvenile with a gun threatening schools: Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

STAFFORD, VA—Authorities are investigating a photo of a juvenile with what looks like a gun that has been making the rounds on social media and appears to target schools, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office announced Monday.

Police said they don't believe there's a "credible threat to students at this time," and that they "don't believe the weapon in the photo is a real firearm." Said photo was distributed via Snapchat.

Once they became aware of the photo, police began an investigation and, with the help of citizens, identified the juvenile as a Fredericksburg resident. The parents of the juvenile already had been made aware of the incident and told police they were planning to bring in the juvenile to speak with detectives.
