FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Stafford County until 1:15 p.m. on Monday, according to the Virginia Department of Emergency Management.

The public is advised to take shelter until the warning expires.

Fifty-two Virginia counties are under a tornado watch Monday as a series of severe thunderstorms that could produce heavy rains, and damaging winds with gusts up to 80 mph are forecast to hit Virginia Monday, forecasters say.
