Sexual Assault At Dixon Park Leads To Arrest: Police

A 44-year-old man from Stafford County was arrested on Thursday after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman at Dixon Park.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A sexual assault occurred at Dixon Park in Fredericksburg on Wednesday night, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department. A suspect was taken into custody on Thursday.

Police identified the suspect as Christopher Innocenti, a 44-year-old man from Stafford County. He is charged with one count of aggravated sexual battery.

Innocenti is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.

The sexual assault occurred around 9 p.m. on Wednesday. The victim, who police only identified as a woman, told authorities that a man she knew sexually assaulted her at the park.

The woman was able to escape the man and call for police, according to the police department's report.

A Fredericksburg detective identified Innocenti as the suspect, and deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff's Office took him into custody on Thursday.
