One man was shot and another suffered cuts to the back of his head during a fight at Spotsylvania Towne Center on Saturday, police said.

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — One man was shot and another was assaulted at Spotsylvania Towne Center on Saturday. The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office said a group of suspects are still at large.

Deputies responded to the Cancun Margarita Bar and Grill Restaurant around 12:05 a.m. on Saturday. Multiple 911 callers described a fight and a possible shooting, the sheriff's office said.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found one man bleeding from his head and another man who had been shot. Police said the two men, a 37-year-old and a 40-year-old, were brothers-in-law.

One victim told police that the two brothers had been drinking at the bar for several hours. He said that an unknown man intentionally bumped into him at the bar.

The victim claimed that the suspect invited him outside so they could continue their argument. When the victim went outside, the suspect and several other men began to argue with him, police said.

Then, someone shot the 37-year-old victim. He said he did not initially realize he'd been shot, and he did not know who shot him, according to the police report. When the first victim's brother-in-law came to help, the group of suspects "jumped and beat" him, police said.

The sheriff's office believes that the suspects fled the area before police arrived on the scene. The Fredericksburg Police Department and Virginia State Police searched the area, but did not find suspects.

Emergency personnel took the two victims to a nearby hospital for treatment.
