Shooting Reported At Stafford Tire Store, 1 Injured: Sheriff's Office

One person was injured when an employee at Tires and Wheels Unlimited and a customer pulled guns on each during an argument, police said.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Shots rang out at the Tires and Wheels Unlimited store on Monday morning, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

One person suffered a gunshot wound during the shooting, police said. The victim, who police did not identify by name, was taken to a hospital for treatment.

One suspect was taken into custody, the sheriff's office said. Authorities did not identify the suspect, as their investigation is in its early stages.

Deputies arrived at Tires and Wheels Unlimited around 11:45 a.m. on Monday morning. Deputies determined that a customer and an employee had an argument at the facility.

"Both brandished handguns and shots were fired," Major Shawn Kimmitz of the sheriff's office said. Kimmitz did not say whether both people fired their guns.

One person suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach. Police did not say whether the victim was a bystander or one of the people involved in the argument.

Originally, one round of southbound Warrenton Road was closed for the investigation. The roadway has since reopened, but drivers should use caution in the area.
