Shooting, Stabbing At Stafford Home Leads To Arrest: Police

A victim who was shot and stabbed in Stafford on Saturday morning is expected to survive. Deputies arrested a suspect in the assault.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was shot and stabbed at a home in Stafford County on Saturday morning, police said. Authorities said a suspect was arrested.

Deputies responded to a home on Fox Run Lane in the Woodlawn neighborhood around 3 a.m. on Saturday morning. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a man "bleeding profusely" in the driveway, according to the police report.

A deputy provided first aid until medics arrived and took the victim to the hospital. In a report this week, authorities said the victim is expected to survive. The sheriff's office said the victim was shot and stabbed.

After assisting the victim at the scene, deputies learned of an issue inside the home. Authorities said they found 23-year-old Ryan Madden in the home and he had assaulted another resident.

"Deputies detained Madden and he became extremely irate as he was placed in a patrol car," the sheriff's office said in its report. "During the arrest, Madden head butted a deputy and broke out a patrol car window."

Through their investigation, deputies determined that Madden shot the victim on Saturday.

Madden was taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail on charges of assault and battery, assault and battery on law enforcement, vandalism, and unlawful wounding. He is being held without bond.
