Shootings Reported In Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County: Police

Two suspects are at large in connection with separate shootings that occurred in Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg, according to authorities.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — One man was seriously injured in a shooting in Spotsylvania County on Monday night. Another unrelated shooting was subsequently reported in Fredericksburg on Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities.

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office was able to identify a suspect in Monday's shooting, though he is still at large. The Fredericksburg Police Department have not been able to identify the man wanted in connection with Tuesday's shooting.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 2, authorities in Spotsylvania received a report of a shooting. Deputies responded to the 7000 block of Alpha Court in the Salem Fields subdivision to investigate the report.

When they arrived, deputies found a 27-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a report from the sheriff's office. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he then underwent emergency surgery, police said.

The sheriff's office has not provided any further updates on the status of the victim.

After an investigation, authorities obtained arrest warrants for Shaunel Dejuan Ball in connection with the shooting. He is charged with malicious wounding, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Ball has not been located by police.

Ball is considered armed and dangerous, and authorities said he should not be approached. Instead, anyone with information about his whereabouts can call the sheriff's office at 540-582-7115, or by texting SEE911 to 274637.

The Fredericksburg Police Department reported a shooting around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3. No injuries were initially reported, and authorities described it as a "shots fired" incident that took place in the Bragg Hill corridor near the Snowden Ballpark.

The suspect who is believed to have fired the shots was described as a Black man with a heavier build. He was wearing a white tank-top and stone-washed jeans.
