The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. on June 18, according to the police report. Alford called deputies to a home in the 6300 block of Grace Hill.

Alford said he armed himself with a handgun when he noticed a vehicle parked in his driveway. In the police report, authorities said three teens were in the vehicle. They were lost and drove down Alford's driveway by mistake, police said.

The teens said that Alford began to yell at them and bang on the window as the driver tried to turn around. When the 17-year-old driver started to drive away, Alford fired a shot into the back of the vehicle, the sheriff's office said.

The bullet travelled through the tail light, struck items in the trunk, and ended up in the center of the back seat under a cushion.

Deputies arrested Alford after an investigation.
