The Spotsylvania Community Engagement and Tourism Departments have created a Hometown Heroes program to honor service members.
SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — The Spotsylvania Community Engagement and Tourism Departments have created a Spotsylvania Hometown Heroes program to honor military service members and veterans with banners that include a photo of the hero.
The service members must be serving or have served in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marine. The hero must have been honorably discharged, currently serving, or died in combat. They also must have lived in Spotsylvania County at some point in their life.
"This program is a community memorial to those who have served our country through the years," the county said in a news release.
